Identity Project

This project was based off of a 10 page auto-biography we wrote about ourselves. Using certain elements we were to come up with a metaphor to create our work from. Unfortunately, I did not document the process of creating this work. I misunderstood the methods of the class at this time.

I first began with creating a watercolor background using multiple colors. I added salt and dirt to create effects in the background.

I then got a sheet of velum and drew an outline of an iris. Within the iris, I took photos printed out and pieced them in. I cut out an area of negative space within the outline of the iris so the background was not obscured. I colored over the images pasted on the back side of the velum colors of the iris.

My inspiration for this cam from old botanicals and nude male imagery that is seen in many "gay" bookstores in picture books, posters, cards and other what not .
